Every week during the school year our church provides two lunches for local elementary school children to take home for the weekends.  The school determines which students receive the lunches – those that do are already on the free or reduced lunch program.  This project requires many hands as well as money.

One couple purchases the food every week and brings it to church, another couple sets up a little assembly line, and 6 – 10 volunteers come in and pack up the meals and put them in bins.  A school volunteer picks up and delivers them to the school.  Someone from church retrieves the empty bins from the school and the process starts over again.  For more information, contact the Backpack Buddies Coordinator at backpack@stpaulsumc.us.
