Electronic Giving Frequently Asked Questions

Electronic Giving is the term used to describe automatic methods for making contributions on a regular basis without the need to write checks, carry cash, or prepare envelopes.

Q.  What are the major advantages of electronic giving?
A.  Electronic giving is all about convenience for you and consistency for the church.  Electronic giving eliminates frequent check writing and helps members stay on track with pledges even when they are unable to attend services.  The church in turn benefits from much-needed donation consistency and a reduction in the volume of check and cash contributions that must be handled and manually processed in the church office.

Q.  Can I make my donations via checking and/or credit/debit card accounts?
A.  Yes!

Q.  How does it work?
A.  Contributions are transferred automatically from your checking/savings account or your debit/credit card account to the church’s bank account.

Q.  How are my contributions deducted and transferred?
A.  First, you create the electronic donation specifying frequency (one time or recurring weekly or monthly), amount, and source of funds (checking/savings or debit/credit accounts).  Contributions are then transferred through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network – the same network already used by families to make mortgage and utility payments or to make purchases via the web.

Q.  When will my contribution be debited from my account?
A.  You control the date the transaction is processed when you make your donation.  To make a transaction effective “today” you must enter it before 3pm Central Time.  It may take 2 – 4 business days to complete the transaction depending on the account you use.

Q.  How will I keep track of my contribution?
A.  The transaction will appear in your bank or credit/card statement.

Q.  How will I prove I made a contribution?
A.  An e-mail confirmation will be sent to you and your bank statement will show each contribution.  Also, if you have created a profile (recommended), you will be able to see a history of your donations on-line.

Q.  How much does giving electronically cost?
A.  It costs you nothing other than your donation and it costs the church very little.  And, we give you the opportunity to pay for the church’s transaction costs when you make your donation.
