At our July meeting, we took the next step in our housing journey. Most of our meeting was
taken up with editing, crafting, honing, and otherwise perfecting the Request For
Qualifications (RFQ). This is the letter we will send to several of the area affordable housing
developers. The RFQ describes our aim to have affordable housing constructed on our site,
and is asking them to show us their qualifications for assisting us in this endeavor. In light of
a due date for their submittals of August 31, we will meet again, September 18 to form our
strategies for selecting a few to interview. But those details will be for a future article.
Also discussed at this meeting where the proposals of our newest member Tim Stockton. He
presented several ideas which will enhance our communication ability with the community.
One of those will be an addition to our website with a hot link labeled ‘housing’ which at
first will have the articles you have read on housing research. Once a developer is selected
this link will also include the details which will result from working together to the final
design of the housing. In the future, this area of our website would also be a ready reference
for any interested community member.
As you can see, your teams emphasis has shifted from research and education to
presentation and selection. Remember that this is not a closed group and that all of your
questions are welcomed at any time.
